Hi. My name is Kristi. I’m a wife, stepmom, business owner, daughter, sister, and friend (among other roles.) For a while now, I have felt like the world is on fire. There is so much turmoil and need. I would hear about great organizations working to help people in my community and think, “Wow, that’s great. I should get involved.” Then I’d move on to whatever needed attention in my day-to-day life, my good intentions remaining just that — intentions. Until one day when I heard a statement that was made by the Dalai Lama, during the Vancouver Peace Summit in 2009:
“The world will be saved by the western woman.”
And I thought, “OF COURSE.” Women are innately powerful. We run households and businesses and organizations. We work inside and outside of the home. We raise kids and nurture loved ones. We bring people together. We are intelligent, thoughtful, strong, and skilled. We are a FORCE. If anyone can make things better, it’s US. Saving the world is a tall order, but if we do whatever small thing(s) we can within the context of our busy lives, we can have a big impact and be part of the solution.
That’s why I started WomenShine.
Women are busy. We have good hearts and want to help, but the need is overwhelming. It’s hard to know what to do, and what we can realistically fit into our hectic lives.
*WomenShine brings us together for a couple of hours once a month to do something tangible to help our community. We’re making it easy for women to get some great girl time and help make things better.
I hope you’ll join us and invite friends, as we
Use Our Power to Brighten the World.
