Who We Are
WomenShine is a group of caring Albuquerque women who recognize the needs that exist in our community. We want to help, but our lives are busy, and the need feels so overwhelming it’s hard to know where to start. So we’re finally taking action in whatever small ways we can to make a difference.
And we’re doing it together.
What We Do
Starting in July 2025, we will meet once a month for a couple of hours to help a local nonprofit or meet a need in our community. We’re making it easy for busy, caring women to have an impact while enjoying some great “girl time.” In essence —
We’re making “doing good” doable. And we’re building our own supportive community in the process.
Why We Do It
Women are the change makers and nurturers of the world. Even the smallest action within the context of our busy lives can make a big difference. Our community, our city, our state, our nation, and our world need us.
If we don’t help, who will?
THIS MAY, WE’RE ROLLING UP OUR SLEEVES TO FILL SWAG BAGS FOR THE JUNETEENTH RENAISSANCE INSTITUTE!
This month, we’re using our Women Power to help the Juneteenth Renaissance Institute get ready for their big event! They’re hosting the Heart of ABQ 6.6K Fun Run and Festival on Memorial Day Weekend, and they need 500 swag bags filled, STAT! If you’ve ever run or walked a race, you know those goodie bags are full of great stuff and make that athletic effort extra worth it! The Juneteenth Renaissance Institute folks are providing all the items, and we’re providing the muscle!
The Juneteenth Renaissance Institute is a local nonprofit that helps the black community and people in the International District by teaching them how to become financially stable and build generational wealth, to achieve economic parity. The organization also promotes well-being, culture, and civic engagement.

OUR APRIL MEETUP WAS ALL ABOUT WARM, FUZZY HUGS (EMPHASIS ON “FUZZY!”)
We collected 84 adorable stuffed animals for the residents at Morada Quintessence Assisted Living! We wanted each of them to have a special stuffed animal to hug any time they want. And thanks to YOU, they will! There are enough stuffies for each resident to receive one, plus some left over to give them for Bingo prizes. THANK YOU SO MUCH to all of you who were able to contribute 🥰 🥰
